Worlds Top Resorts - Fregate Island

Fregate Island is the easternmost island of the granitic Inner Islands of the Seychelles. Situated in the Indian Ocean, northeast of the island of Madagascar, Seychelles has long been known as a top vacation destination. And its pride and joy is Fregate Island. Fregate is primarily known as a secluded, private resort for the well-to-do.
The Times have voted Anse Victorin beach “The World's Best Beach,” and Fregate Island's popularity is at an all-time high. Explorer Lazare Picault named the island after witnessing an abundance of frigatebirds on the island. The island is covered with beautiful Indian almond trees, takamaka, and cashew. The water directly off the coastline also provides some of the world's best snorkeling.
The resort at Fregate is comprised of 16 luxury villas, allowing for a total number of 40 guests to stay on the private island at any one time. The island remains totally exclusive to its guests. Unless you're staying at the resort, then you're not allowed to step foot on Fregate Island.
Each villa was carefully designed and built with a guest's privacy in mind. They're all positioned to ensure seclusion from others staying at the resort. To build the villas, architects used the native mahogany so each villa would blend in with the natural surroundings. But the villas aren't just private; they're also lavish and spacious. Each villa has a large terrace with a Jacuzzi and day bed that acts as an extension to the living area.
You get to experience easy island living, yet still have access to the modern world with Fregate Island's state-of-the-art technology.
There are many activities for guests to take part in, both above and under the water. Fregate Island has two freshwater pools, and seven beaches. Guests can enjoy snorkeling, ocean exploration on a hobie cat or kayak, or game fishing on the water. You can also experience the wildlife in its natural habitat on Fregate Island.
You can see animals such as the Aldabra Giant Tortoises, and the illusive, Fregate Island native flying fox, which is essentially a huge bat. Other wildlife is able to be seen on the island, and guests often enjoy venturing out on their own expeditions.
Fregate Island Private resort also offers the Rock Spa: a sanctuary of serenity that sits perched atop a cliff, overlooking the sea. The spa is flanked by freshwater pools and cascading waterfalls. In the spa, guests can receive many holistic treatments from all over the world, including ancient techniques from India, Polynesia, and Australia.
As the sun is about to set, the Plantation House transforms into a romantic restaurant, catering to all your fine-dining needs, or you can eat at Fregate House and enjoy a gourmet menu which includes many local delicacies.
The minimum stay at Fregate Island is 3 nights. Guests can reserve their stay in a villa starting at around $1,700. Villas can accommodate 2 children. Extra fees apply for children over the age of 6.
