Belize is one of the more famous countries in Central America. Formerly known as British Honduras, and once part of the great Mayan and Spanish empires, Belize has a storied history that rivals Greece and Rome. Vacationers love visiting the area, and in recent years, more people are enjoying their stay at the private resort, Cayo Espanto.
There are only six villas available at Cayo Espanto, but don't let the island fool you, it's quite deceptive. With ruffled mangrove borders and a palm tree center, Cayo Espanto appears to be a very large island, and you'll never see another guest unless you're out on the water or on your dock.
The anonymity of the island has made it a favorite spot for today's celebrities. Among the many famous frequent guests are Robert De Niro, Tiger Woods, and Leonardo DiCaprio.
As well as being breathtakingly beautiful and secluded, Cayo Espanto is also famed for its fine cuisine. This isn't like a 5-star restaurant that serves appetizer portions for dinner - Cayo Espanto dishes out the gourmet meals at belly buster rates. With all of that food, guests will definitely need some exercise to work off the calories.
Unfortunately, Cayo Espanto isn't outfitted with the latest gym equipment and personal trainers. The island is all about the lazy luxurious lifestyle. While you're staying at Cayo Espanto, the idea is to indulge yourself in wonderful food and gorgeous island life. You can have meals served to your outside of your villa, or at the end of your private dock.
But food isn't all you'll be getting at Cayo Espanto; the housemen are another great feature of the island resort. Each villa comes with a houseman, and he's there to answer your beckon call.
Your houseman will serve you meals, bring your drinks, provide turn down service for your bed, and he'll even come in and open up the villa's retractable walls every morning. Or if you'd rather not use your own personal servant for the vacation, he'll stand off and let you enjoy the vacation privately.
Though most visit the island for the sunny weather and beautiful beaches, the rain can still drive the vacation inside. If this happens, you'll have plenty to do in the state-of-the-art villas.
All villas include surround-sound stereos, wireless internet access, and big screen, HD TVs with satellite and a large selection of movies to keep you entertained. Or if you'd rather take a nap, the luxurious beds are situated under a canopy of mosquito netting, making for a bite-free afternoon nap.
A few activities are available for those who want to get out be active while on vacation. You can choose from activities such as touring the island's borders in a kayak, go swimming, or take a snorkeling tour.
If the ocean water is a bit too salty for your taste, then you can enjoy your own private, heated swimming pool back at the villa. Rates for staying at the Cayo Espanto resort range from $995 to $2995, and you can even book the entire island for $16,000 per night.
