World’s Most Expensive Properties - Hala Ranch, Colorado

Saudi oil heirs and businessmen have been buying up property in the United States for years. Although America is currently at war with parts of the Middle East, public figures like Prince Bandar bin Sultan are able to skip checking points in airport lines and fly directly into the U.S. with their private jets.
When bin Sultan is in the Americas, he likes to frequent his Aspen, Colorado ski mansion, Hala Ranch. Hala, which means “welcome,” was built in 1991 and is a staggering 56,000 square-feet. Sultan purchased the land while a U.S. ambassador and is currently trying to sell it due to his new title as National Security Councilor in Saudi Arabia.
Not only is this mansion one of the most extravagant in the world, but it's also set-up for Armageddon. Hala Ranch has its own wastewater treatment plant, its own massive supply of high-tech generators, gasoline pumps, mechanical shops, and even a carwash for good measure.
While people are staying at the home, they can shut off the outside world and focus on the finer things in life, like skiing all day on one of the 3 private ski trails, or simply relaxing in the hot tub and enjoying an expensive wine from the vintage cellar.
The price tag of Hala Ranch is a staggering $135-million. Not only is that a gigantic price for the house, but that doesn't even include the large guest house, which sold separately already for over $36-million - the most ever paid for a home in the area.
Aspen is an exclusive ski resort town, made that much more famous by Hala Ranch. Forbes magazine was quick to jump on Hala Ranch and rank it one of ten “most expensive homes in the United States,” coming in at number-three.
The main house isn't even the estate's main selling feature. Hala Ranch isn't a mere mansion; it's an expansive piece of ultra-prime real estate. Sultan's property covers approximately 95 acres of Aspen territory, making the property one of the area's largest privately owned tracts of land.
Arabians are known for their love of horses, and bin Sultan is no different. Of course, Arabian horses might object to the chilly Aspen weather. To counter this, Sultan had luxurious heated stables built on the property, pampering his horses.
There's also an Olympic-size indoor pool, a tennis court, rare and pricy marble, gold, and bejeweled fixtures, and priceless artwork (which won't be included in the sale). The home features 15 large bedrooms, each with its own expansive bathroom.
There are a dozen other bathrooms in the home as well, making a grand total of 27 - hence the water/sewage treatment on-site. The master bedroom - which is really more like a house inside of a house - features its own salon.
Fireplaces, stained glass, elevators, a fishing pond and a reflecting pool complete with waterfall round out the home's features. The prince let loose when having his home built, and the hefty price reflects its lavishness.
