Washington DC Day Trip from New York

New York is a great place to visit, however what if you want to go and explore a little bit of the United States, well one option is a day trip to the capital city, Washington DC. The trip takes place on a fifteen seater, fully air conditioned bus, providing you with comfort and a good view of the scenery.
The Bus will pick you up from Grand Central Station. Building of the current Station was completed in 1913, although there has been a rail road terminal building on the site since 1871. Get there early and look around the architecture, especially the astronomical ceiling, devised by brothers Warren and Paul César Helleu.
Once aboard, the Bus will take you on a brief stop to Madame Tussauds. Here you can have your photo taken with President Obama and visit a replica of the Oval Office. You won’t be allowed to visit any of the other areas of Madame Tussauds, but nor would you want to as you’ll be missing out on a fantastic journey.
Once you leave Madame Tussauds, you’ll head south, passing though New Jersey, Delaware and Maryland before reaching Capitol Hill. Some of the roads you will be travelling on have a rich history themselves. The George Washington Bridge which links New York to New Jersey has the largest vehicular capacity of any bridge in the world. The New Jersey Turnpike, part of Interstate Highway 95 which carries you down towards Delaware, is the most heavily travelled road in the United States. Interstate 95 continues through Delware, the smallest state by area after Rhode Island and into Maryland, a major state for research in life science.
Upon arrival in Washington DC, you will get the chance to see the core of the US Government – the Capitol, Senate and White House. Construction of the White House commenced in 1792, although it would be 8 years before any President lived there. In the 220 years that have intervened, the buildings has suffered fire, stress damage and has had the internals completely rebuild and strengthened with steel. Unfortunately, due to security issues, it is not possible to visit the White House itself; however there will be no problem with you taking as many photos as you can.
You will then visit the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. This was established in 1976 and holds the world’s largest collection of aircraft and spacecraft. If you love old airplanes and feel nostalgic about the 1950’s and 60’s space race, this is this definitely a museum for you,
You will then take a visit to the Washington, Lincoln, Vietnam and Korea memorials. Certainly a worthwhile trip by itself, however there is more. During the afternoon your journey will continue with a tour around the city. After this you will travel back to New York for an early evening arrival back at Grand Central Station, with all those fantastic memories locked inside your head ready to tell tale to anyone who will listen.
