Ultimate Experiences: Fly a Super Aviator Submersible

Before modern technology caught up with science fiction, most of us were enthralled with daydreams of things like hybrid sea-land automobiles, passenger planes that could travel into space and submarines that could cruise underwater more like airplanes. With the release of the Super Aviator, now the third fantasy is a legitimate reality.
With the Sub Adventure, said to be “the ultimate in low level flying,” passengers can ride aboard a state-of-the-art submarine designed to do one thing: glide through the water like a plane flies through the air. The Super Aviator sub is to underwater enthusiasts what HD TV is to cable television enthusiasts – a serious upgrade.
There are not many spots around the world where members of the public can take the Super Aviator for a flight, as running costs make them prohibitively expensive for most of us to get close. However, for tourists with deep enough pockets and no interest in the arduous training involved in becoming a Scuba diver, they will provide a unique glimpse of underwater life.
For $15,000, you can book a seat on the Super Aviator hydrobaltic submersible craft. Of course, you do have to meet a few minimum requirements to participate. After all, the equipment and, more importantly, your life is on the line when you’re surrounded by millions of gallons of water in an oxygen deprived environment.
Apart from being over 18 to participate, you also have to be under 6’6”, 240 pounds or less, and not have any medical conditions like diabetes, heart problems, anxiety, claustrophobia, or similar problems.
Since you’ll actually be in control of the submarine and steering it, you will also have to take a three-day course to learn the ins and outs of the submersible system and also about underwater life in general. All of this is included in the price, as well as room and board, so anyone planning on taking this trip can mark it down as a legitimate week-long vacation.
There’s a lot to see at this location in the Bahamas. Obviously, not all underwater locations offer ideal scenery – but this location has two large shipwrecks in the immediate area, several reef systems, sharks, dolphins, and much, much more.
Passengers aboard Super Aviator will only be able to dive down to 150 feet. This is due to safety reasons and the fact that the coastal waters - where you’re be diving - aren’t incredibly deep in the first place. The submersible craft travels at a max speed of six knots and can stay under the surface for quite a while.
Lastly, passengers are allowed to bring a camera (film or digital, still or video) as long as it’s small and as long as you assume the risk of the camera being damaged.
