It goes without saying that millions of people on Earth would love to have the opportunity to travel in space. However, this isn’t a reality but for a few people on the entire planet. There’s years of training that goes into becoming an astronaut or cosmonaut, and the honor is usually reserved for individuals with extremely high IQs and a high level of flying experience.

Thanks to the 10-day Space Training Tour, though, even the average Joe’s and Jane’s of the world have a chance to experience what it’s like to be a cosmonaut by participating in Russia’s Cosmonaut Training Program. You still won’t get to venture into space, but you will be able to experience what it’s like to train as if you’re going.

Not only will you learn everything about previous space travel and the various equipment and conditions, but you’ll also get to test a lot of the stuff out. It isn’t something you can do in a day, and certainly isn’t something you can do if you’re in poor health, but for people looking for a unique vacation, this is the experience of a lifetime.

The training tour experience takes place at the Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Star City, Russia. Officially called the Yu A. Gagarin State Scientific Research-and-Testing Cosmonaut Training Center, this is where the real Russian cosmonauts live and train, and also where most of Russia’s space equipment is tested and where exploration is planned.

Obviously, the trip needs to be planned in advance. Before you can begin your cosmonaut training, you will be given a thorough medical examination, just like real cosmonauts take before they begin their training. After that, assuming you pass with flying colors, the rest of your training ensues.

The actual training begins with various theoretical lectures and seminars about manned space travel and the exploration of the universe in general, and then it’s on to the psychological aspects of space and what individuals are facing in zero gravity and absolute zero conditions.

The Hydrolab (an underwater training facility where guests wear full-on space gear) is also employed to give a better idea about how cosmonauts work in weightless conditions. Then it’s on to the TsF-18 Centrifuge, where guests will be spun centrifugally to experience g-force.

You also get to experience weightless flight. By flying up into the limits of the Earth’s atmosphere, the plane is then at a high enough altitude to free-fall for thousands of feet. This downward trajectory creates a weightless environment, and guests aboard the plane have the luxury of floating around without restraints to experience the weightlessness.

This type of flight can be taken by itself in Russia and in other locations around the world, but it’s only one part of the cosmonaut experience, with many more training exercises and courses to teach you about the rigors of space.

All in all, the Russian Cosmonaut experience is a 10-day vacation that provides something wholly original and thrilling. Hundreds are taking the opportunity to train every year, and such programs are becoming more popular around the globe.
