Things to look out for in Las Vegas 2012

10 March 2012
In previous years, Las Vegas has continued to push forward with new changes and 2012 doesn’t look to be any different. There are many new charms and developments in the pipeline which are aimed at tempting back tourists who have previously visited Sin City and to also hopefully attract a new generation of holidaymakers.
For many people, the relatively low prices will be one of the main reasons for visiting Vegas this year and the fact that plenty of new attractions are planned should also hopefully entice new people in their droves.
Singer Rod Stewart will be based in the Colosseum Lounge and will begin part of a two year contract. He is set be a regular fixture here throughout 2012.
There will also be a brand spanking new complex that will consist of eateries, a retail section and of course, Vegas-style entertainment in a complex called the Skyvue Vegas which is quite close to Mandalay Bay.
This marvellous construction will have an observation wheel that can be likened to the London Eye and will stand 467 foot into the sky, plus it will play host to a thrilling rollercoaster ride for the more adventurous, risk-taking tourist. This can be located in the strip’s Southern end, just remember to take your video camera.
For those who are purely looking for the latest in Casino developments, the Margaritaville Casino in the Flamingo is the latest addition to the casino scene. Play in paradise here with dancing ‘Fins Up’ girls and engage with some of the industry’s best dealers and friendly bar staff.
The restaurant here offers a unique tropical experience and you could try out their hugely successful (now world-famous) ‘Cheeseburger in Paradise’. Head to South Las Vegas Boulevard to see what all the fuss is about here.
More thrills come in the form of the X-Scream. You can perform a simple search on any video-sharing website and check out this latest ride which is located at the Strip’s Stratosphere. This is home to the world’s highest attraction and is kind of similar to a rollercoaster ride.
The X-Scream certainly isn’t a ride for the faint-hearted. For those of you who dare to take a look either side while you are on the ride, there’s a chance you could end up seeing that burger that you just ate half an hour ago.
If you have been to Vegas before and know the area well, you will notice see that plenty of construction is going on, in an attempt to demolish the old and bring in the new. Sin City continues to undergo a face lift, with some buildings being wiped off the map altogether, such as the iconic Sahara Hotel, which is scheduled to be destroyed towards then end of this year.
The MGM Harmon Tower is also destined to just be just a feature in our history books. Plans for its demolition are also set to take place at some point in the year in an attempt to tidy up the area in which it stands and to make this area more appealing.
Whatever budget you are on, the rule is that you will be able to have a good time here in Las Vegas. Despite the current economic crisis (which you wouldn’t notice was happening at all here), the constant improvements and alterations that are currently taking place show the fierce attempts that are clearly being made to put this place firmly back on the map again in 2012 and beyond.
