The Patek Philippe Exhibition wads a treat for horology lovers. It was organized in Singapore during the fag end of May early this year. The exhibition extended over four days and was unveiled at the St Regis ballroom in the city.

It was a treat to all those who were interested in the rare designs and machinery of the most exclusive brand of watches priced at an obscene amount. It is most definitely a watch connoisseur's delight.

The company is based in Geneva, Switzerland, and the exhibits displayed were more than two hundred and fifty special editions from their museum. It is an exhibition that must be visited unless one wants to go all the way to Geneva to quench a watch lover's thirst for those beauties.

It is also a highly informative tour, as can be expected from the esteemed company and has indeed a lot more to offer than merely visual delight of seeing those watches at display. A few of the mindboggling price tags of the watches at display that have been seen include, the Patek Philippe 1527 which is of 18K gold and perpetual calendar chronograph with moon phases, with the date of manufacture as 1943 and was released at USD 5,637,702. The estimated price of the watch is between USD 1,500,000 – 2,400,000.

The target market of course was a select few or the super-rich who would want to invest in the timeless classics or buy these for a collector's delight. These rare timeless pieces were probably seen as an addition to a personal museum or maybe simply an asset to be added to the family jewels collection!

A watch by Patek Philippe that can only be described as a unique and of great historical value was sold in the auction at a whopping price of CHF 6,259,000 or 5,637,702 US dollars. The watch was found again after being lost about twenty years back when it first went under the anvil, and it is lately been attributed with a lot of historical data with the help of numerous scholars and archivists.

On going back to 1943, it was revealed that only two elaborate wristwatches with the reference number of 1527 were ever manufactured.

The watch in the auction is a large size, perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch, and has an avant-garde design and dimension. It is also a highly aristocratic design masterpiece. It can be described as a historic piece and one of the most complex watches in the Patek Philippe exhibit.
