The Casino at the Empire Leicester Square is a highly opulent place that boasts of some really glamorous atmosphere and a high end crowd. It has more than 55,000 square feet of casino space and claims to offer a 'Vegas experience in the heart of London.'

The Casino at the Empire is the place to be if one is interested in gambling. It is recommended even for people who can't afford, as it will be a wager one would only be happy to take!

The Casino is spread over the two floors of grandeur and there are many places to look out for and many tables to splurge and gamble at. At the ground floor, one finds a lot of tables and slot machines, in case you are not too interested in the card tricks and games.

The Casino boasts of a private poker room for those who wish to hone their skills. For those who do not like to gamble, the Casino has a lot of exploring scope and offers the services of two restaurants and three bar and lounge areas. The offerings are rounded off with a few VIP rooms as well.

The Leicester square is coined after Robert Sidney, 2nd Earl of Leicester, who bought it in 1630; post which he built his house at the northern end of the land. Leicester Square became an entertainment hub by the 19th century, Leicester Square was known as an entertainment venue, with many amusements typical to the age such as Wyld's Globe which housed the great exhibition and had a huge map of the Earth.

With time, a number of hotels started to come up around the square, thus the spot became popular for those who toured and visited London. In 1854, a large theatre, the Alhambra, was built and was the most significant building on the square.

The casino at the Empire on Leicester Square is housed in the Empire theatre building and its history can be traced to 1884 when it was opened as a West End variety theatre on and was a venue for ballet events as well.

In 1887, the theatre was renovated to become a well known music hall which was called the Empire Theatre of Varieties. It still continued its regular ballet shows along with the musical releases.

The current Empire building has a casino built over two floors which is one of the major tourist attractions for the city. The square offers a number of entertainment joints but the casino at the empire has a significant upper hand over the others by virtue of it being located in the Empire building.

Over the years the theatre has featured a number of movies and has come to be known as one of the most significant attractions in London.

There is not much information around the history of the addition of the casino in the Empire building. At best, one can assume that it was a later addition to the Empire cinemas.
