The original Aston Martin DBS or the 1967 Aston Martin was the first along the line of luxury cars manufactured by the Aston Martin Lagonda. The number 1967 signifies the year that the car was built in.
The DBS or the 1967 was succeeded by the Aston Martin DB6. The car has a stylish rear end and front protective metal grill and attractive steel veneer and wire wheels. The DBS also has a powerful 4.0 L DOHC I6 engine that gives a power of 283 bhp at 5500 rpm and 390.5 N-m torque at 3850 rpm.
The details of the car are as follows:
It is a 2-door coupe and the front engine has a configuration of 4.0 liters and DOHC I6. It boasts of a power of 283 bhp at 5500 rpm with a torque of 390.5 N-m torque at 3850 rpm. In addition, the transmission is manual at 5-speed. In terms of the dimensions, the car sits on top of the wheelbase at 2610 mm and has four wheel disc brakes which provide the car with a strong stopping power. The width of the car is 1830 mm, the length is 4585 mm. It is 1330 mm high and weighs approximately 3500 lbs.
The engine is of normal aspiration and runs on petrol. It is powered by a 3995 cc six cylinder engine with triple SU carburetors for fuel delivery. The physical frame of the Aston Martin DBS or the 1967 Aston Martin, also known as the chassis has suspensions in the front with independent coil springs while suspensions in the rear with de-dion coil springs.
The first batch of the production manufactured 899 cars. It was priced at £ 5500 at the time that it was launched. The current price of the car in excellent shape is £50,000, while that of a good or an average car is £32,000 and £17,500 respectively.
The Aston Martin DBS or the 1967 Aston Martin displays an excellent and even enviable performance as it goes to a speed of 60 miles per hour (mph) from 0 mph in 7.8 seconds while it goes from 0 miles per hour to 100 miles per hour in 22.9 seconds.
The car's top speed stands recorded as 140 miles per hour. It also offers a fuel consumption value of 13 mpg.
The layout is of the rear wheel drive (RWD) type with the engine at the front. The steering is of the rack and pinion type and the body frame is metal monocoque. The transmission is five – speed for the manual gearbox and three speed for the automatic gearbox.
It is indeed a car that was a path breaking innovation at the time of its creation. It led to a number of higher advanced models to be manufactured later, best known among which is the 2007 version Aston martin which was used in a number of James Bond movies, including the Casino Royale and the Quantum of Solace.
