Winning at slot machines, land based or online, is mostly just about luck. There are a lot of people however who think otherwise and have spread around many myths and superstitions linked to playing slot machines and the ‘real' ways to win, here are just a few to give you a laugh;

Temperature of the coin- some people argue that if you have a really hot or cold coin (there are arguments over which one) then you can get the machine to pay out.

Learn the sequence- one of the biggest myths around slot machines is that you can learn the winning sequence and when they will pay out so that you can then go the same slot machine and wait for the right time in order to hit the jackpot. This is not true and all slot machines have randomised coding that can't be tricked.

Stand don't sit- some people believe that standing increases your chances of taking home a bigger win because when you're sitting down and relaxed you're too lazy to receive a big pay out.

The Casino is watching you- did you know that the casino is watching your every move and if you're on a winning role the machines will suddenly stop paying because they think you've won enough? This also means that if you're not winning then the machine might decide to let you win so that you keep playing. This is all just another slot machine superstition and obviously can't be true because of the rules that casino's need to stick to (they can't change any machines) so no need to worry.

New Casino's pay out- Apparently new casino's and new slot machines will pay out more because they're trying to reel in customers but once they've got enough customers they will stop letting you win and change the calculations so you get less winnings.

If you play the same machine for hours then you're bound to win at some point- many new gamblers think that if a machine hasn't paid out in a while then it's due to at some point soon. This simply isn't true, you have as much chance of winning on your first go as your 100th go. The slot machine is not waiting for the right time before it gives out a jackpot. This also means that if a slot machine has just paid out a big one then it still has the same chances to pay out again straight after, it really is all about luck.

Play when the casino is busy- again another slot machine superstition. The only reason more people win when the casino is busy is because there are more people playing, no other factor takes part in this.
