Sienna Miller - truly one of Hollywood's “it” girls

The movie industry seems to always have room for the blondes. In Sienna Miller's case, she doesn't fit the archetype mid-1900s voluptuous, glam blonde bombshell, but Hollywood does have a soft spot for her innocent charm and drop-dead gorgeous looks.

Unfortunately, as Miller's career started, she was known simply as Jude Law's girlfriend. As the two met and planned on getting married while starring together in the 2004 film Alfie, Law and Miller made tabloid headlines, first for their seemingly perfect relationship, and then again after news leaked about Jude's philandering. Nevertheless, Miller survived this onslaught of bad publicity and her career is still pushing forward today.

Born December 28, 1981 in New York City, Sienna Rose Miller moved to England as a child with her family. She went to the Heathfield School in Ascot and studied for a while at the Lee Strasberg Institute.

Miller was born into a wealthy family. Her father was a banker-turned-Chinese-art dealer, and her mother was once David Bowie's secretary. Sienna's mother ran the Lee Strasberg School, and Miller seemed to always have aspirations of being an actress.

Major acting roles wouldn't come right away. For Miller, her natural beauty and thin frame made her a perfect candidate for still photography modeling. Miller signed with Tandy Anderson in 2003 and completed various modeling gigs for major brands like Coca-Cola, Italian Vogue, the Pirelli Calendar, and Prada.

It was around late 2003 that Miller started to pick up some serious notoriety as the new “it” model. Like most young, beautiful and talented models, agents and production companies wished to fit her in wherever necessary, so long as it drew a crowd.

Miller had already made her entrance into the stage world, where she landed acting roles in Cigarettes & Chocolate, Independence, and The Striker. She had also experienced mediocre (read: low budget) success with a role in the movie High Speed, and also South Kensington.

Luckily, Miller was more than just a gleaming head of blonde hair on a genetically-blessed body. She could also act, and this led to her first recurring role on a serial, Keen Eddie, and ultimately her first major role in a legitimate feature, 2004's Alfie.

Either because of the aforementioned drama with Jude or despite it, Miller continued to pick up acting roles alongside such stars as Heath Ledger (Casanova), where she played the female lead, and also with Guy Pearce and Hayden Christensen (Factory Girl).

By this time, it was apparent that Miller was picking up roles based on her own merit, and roles with Robert De Niro and Michelle Pfeiffer in Stardust and with Steve Buscemi in Interview cemented her status as a legitimate actress.

To date, Miller continues to act in big budget films, as well as developing her own clothing line, raising awareness for global warming, and participating in many charity works. She's been nominated for a few awards and continues to be truly one of Hollywood's “it” girls.
