Review of Serenity Spa

The Serenity Spa is nestled into the beautiful English countryside in County Durham, with its rolling hills and wonderful lighthouse right on the coast where the raging waves crash against the shore. The spa is housed inside a Georgian style building, reflecting some of the country’s history.
The spa has won awards including the Best Spa for Style by the Sunday Times, a national British newspaper, as well as Best UK Spa by Condé Nast Traveller. These awards prove the popularity of the complex.
Feng Shui is the inspiration for this spa’s oriental decor, and the entire place is clad with limestone, granite and teak to add to the tranquil and serene atmosphere making it a place where deep relaxation and meditation is possible.
One of the unique treatments offered here is the sanarium where you can indulge in crystal light therapy, which is a holistic treatment promoting physical, emotional and mental wellbeing. It consists of light being sent through crystals onto each of the body’s chakras, to rebalance the body’s energy.
There is also a black granite steam room with amethyst where you can relax while the moisture gently opens up the pores in your skin in preparation for the many wonderful body treatments available, and snail showers where the shower screen curves around like a snail shell.
The quartz crystal sauna is heated to the optimum temperature to open up the skin and draw out toxins while you put your feet up and slip into a dream. This can be followed up with a dip in the ice fountain to cool off.
For deep relaxation, a session in the hydrotherapy bath will revitalise your body and mind. There are also 12 massage stations around the hydrotherapy bath where the healing hands of one of the therapists can massage away the aches and pains and remove any tension from your muscles.
For those fond of water therapy, there are plunge pools and outdoor hot tubs where you can enjoy the contrast of the warm bubbling waters and cool English air against your skin. The roof garden is also a charming place to sit back and enjoy a good book with the stars as your cover.
If you’re a more energetic person, before heading to the spa you can enjoy a session in the technogym or aerobic studio. The state of the art equipment is perfect to get the heart pumping and tone up those thighs and abs and get you looking like something out of Hollywood.
After all of this wonderful exercise and pampering, you’re sure to be hungry so why not step into the wonderfully warm atmosphere of the ozone restaurant, where east meets west with the tantalising menu and open kitchen so that you can watch the chef work his magic.
Then you can head off to one of the guest accommodations where contemporary and traditional decor are tastefully mixed to offer the highest quality surroundings. And with five different room types there is something for every budget and taste.
