Private Islands for Rent - Motu Tane, French Polynesia

Bora Bora is unquestionably one of the hottest and most exclusive private island destinations in the world. The ultra private Motu Tane, one of the chain’s most elite islands, is able to be rented out by any one party at a time and offers up plenty of privacy without sacrificing on any scenery of the surrounding lagoon and French Polynesian waters.
The Motu Tane Island isn’t very large at all, but that doesn’t mean it’s offering up small accommodation. With only three acres of viable land to work with, the large main house, the guest house and a series of bungalows make up the island’s centerpiece.
In the native language, “Motu Tane” literally translates into “Universal Love,” and with the beautiful tropical gardens, white-sand beaches, picturesque blue skies and crystal clear waters, Motu Tane is always a prime location for honeymooners with enough money to shell out for a few nights in this one-of-a-kind location.
It’s easy enough to get to the small island. All guests can take a ten minute boat ride across the Bora Bora lagoon and dock at Motu Tane. Guests immediately notice that, other than the gardens, there’s nothing on the island but the resort. This means every square inch of the land is accessible to the island’s guests.
The main house on Motu Tane is definitely large enough to be classified as a mansion if it were located anywhere else on the mainland. The house has two expansive master suites, each with large en suite bathrooms, walk-out terraces, queen-sized beds, and plenty more modern amenities. The house’s kitchen and living area is also spacious.
The next big resort-like feature of Motu Tane is the large guest house. Essentially, the guest house is just a scaled down version of the main house, and features two large bedrooms, bathrooms, a large living area, open terraces, and more. The island also has nine African-style one-room bungalows for guests.
As you can imagine, the main activities on this three-acre island are comprised of water sports. The staff boat, a 36-foot Whaler, takes the guests around at their leisure for organized dives, snorkeling trips, fishing, and basic sightseeing. The boat will also skip you across to Bora Bora for some shopping or simply to visit.
Other than the dining rooms in the main house and guest house, there aren’t any other formal dining areas on the island. However, due to the island’s intimacy, simply eating a meal under a coconut palm is probably the most romantic location you’ll be able to find.
For those who like to keep in shape while on vacation, Motu Tane has a state-of-the-art gymnasium, complete with free weights, new workout equipment, and much more.
Up to 26 guests are able to stay on the island at a time, although only one party can rent it at a time, and the cost is over $200,000 for one week on Motu Tane.
