Preparing for Cheltenham Ladies Day

Cheltenham Ladies Day is a wonderful event for women to join in with the horse races. It is also well known for the dress code of women sporting fancy hats and dresses or suits. SO what should you wear if you’re attending the Cheltenham Ladies Day event?
The event takes place in March, and British weather can be rather unpredictable at that time of year so it is difficult to judge whether to go for a dressed up look, or something more comfortable and warm, especially with prizes on offer for the best dressed ladies.
Many women go for extremely dressy hats and matching outfits, commonly dresses and even heeled shoes. Others opt for classy outfits with tweed or designer suits, covered with warm fur coats which would seem to be the safer option if you don’t want to catch a cold on the day, or spend the event shivering. So what you wear really depends on what you’ll be getting involved in. If you want to join in with the best dressed competitions and have a go at winning a prize for your outfit, you can opt for a strappy or well fitted dress, a stylish hat matching the colour of the dress along with a nice clutch bag and some sexy high heels. Beware though, as it won’t be easy walking about the grass with heels on.
If you’re simply interested in the racing and are not too bothered about the best dressed prize, you can opt for something a little more comfortable. You can still get away with a pretty dress but could perhaps cover it up with a fur coat to keep nice and warm.
If you still want to look stylish you can try a tweed suit which looks classy and elegant. This way you can still wear a skirt if you’d prefer, or opt for trousers to keep your legs warm. This is a great option too because you can easily wear flat shoes for extra comfort as you’ll be doing a lot of standing.
There is no reason why you can’t go for a really simply style though if you don’t want to dress up. Perhaps a skirt with tights and knee boots. This can still look classy with a well fitted coat over the top, and the tights and boots will keep you toasty so you’ll have a far more enjoyable day.
If you’re still really not sure, it might be a good idea to wait until a few days before so that you can check the weather and make a little more of an informed decision as the weather can be quite unpredictable. In some years the weather has been quite pleasant with clear sky and sun, and other years have seen heavy rain, wind and cloud. Obviously this will have a bearing on what many of the women will decide to wear.
Why not have a search online to see pictures of what other women have worn, as this may give you a few new ideas of your own.
