The 2011 Cricket World Cup is set to be a very exciting tournament indeed, with some fantastic players in the pickings. This year the Cricket World Cup will be held at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India.
As always, the Australians are pretty much the favourites to win this year’s world cup. Hussey is their left handed specialist batsman and is a real asset to the batting line-up so it’s certain he’ll do a good job as he always does.
Shane Watson is another great team member for the Aussie’s, with his excellent right-handed batting and fast medium bowling skills. Of course it’s also important to mention Mitchell Johnson who is a renowned fast bowler for Australia. His bowling attacks are second to none and he’s sure to give the opposition a run for their money when he’s in charge of the ball.
One of the most exciting batter of this year’s tournament is set to be Tamim Iqbal on the Bangladeshi team, who has consistently shown exceptional skill and could do the team some great favours. They also have Mashrafe Mortaza, who is an excellent fast bowler and will definitely do well in holding the team up. The entire team’s performance will be closely related to the performance of these two.
India is a strong favourite for this year alongside Australia, with Sachin and Shewag opening the innings followed by Guatam Gambir. For the 2011 World Cup the team will be led by Dhoni, who led the team to victory in the T20 World Cup in 2007. The strong bowlers Harbajan Singh and Zaheer Khan add to the solidarity of this team and makes it a strong likelihood that they will manage to get pretty far this year.
England announced their team of 15 on 19th January too, and revealed a strong set of players. England are already the current World T20 champions, so perhaps there is a good change that they will manage to win the trophy.
Matt Prior has been named as the wicket keep but is also on excellent form with the bat so no doubt he’ll be a great asset to the team. Kevin Peiterson is one of the most explosive batsmen right now, and he’s in the line up. Chances are he is the one to watch in this team, as he always plays a very good game.
Then of course there is also Kenya, who will be relying mostly on the performance of Tikolo and batsmen Obanda and Obuya. Pakistan have Afridi who will be where all eyes will be set as he was pretty central to the team’s T20 win. For the West Indies, Chris Gayle is the one to watch as he’s quite capable of ripping apart even the best bowling attack, and a range of other hot talent including Sarwan, Darren Sammy and Dwayne Bravo.
All in all most teams have a very decent set of players on the teams this year, so it’s going to be a nail biting tournament.
