How to Get Started Playing Online Poker Tournaments
18 February 2013
Whether you've played some poker with your friends and family or are a complete newbie, if you're interested in online poker, you probably want to know what tournaments are all about. The reason that tournaments are the form of poker that gets the most attention in the media is because they have the highest payout.
Even if you're not in a multi-million dollar tournament like the World Series of Poker, daily tournaments still offer the opportunity to win hundreds or even thousands of dollars. The other big reason why tournaments are so popular is it gives you the opportunity to win these prizes without gambling huge amounts of your own money. Unlike playing against the house, you're not staking your own money on every hand.
Instead, you pay a flat amount to buy into a tournament. This buy-in can be as little as $5 or $10 for a daily tournament. Additionally, it's possible to earn a free buy-in to larger tournaments by first winning or simply doing well in smaller "satellite" tournaments. However, before you start worrying about all those details, you likely just want to get the basics of online tournaments covered.

Poker Stars and Wynn Resorts Merge
08 October 2012
Both PokerStars and Wynn Resorts have merged and they are basically now hoping for a bill to be passed that will lead to online poker in the US becoming a legal industry.
PokerStars is a company which is often recognised as one of the true giants of internet poker in the US, Europe and beyond, and Wynn Resorts is a multi-million dollar Nevada-based company that develops high end land based casinos and hotels.
A similar merger has also occurred between 888 Holdings Plc and Caesars Entertainment and the main reason behind these mergers is that these companies in question are simply preparing for a day when online poker in the US does become legal. Many believe this is inevitable and that it will become a reality sooner rather than later. These companies will instantly become the main driving forces if (and when) legislation is passed.

A history of online poker and how it began
28 September 2012
Players weren’t sat around animated tables like they are today and there were basically no in-play features. This was at a time when poker was in its most primitive form. It was still just as popular as it is today though and it soon became apparent how many people actually enjoyed the game and desired to play it online, but there were still very few portals to play at.
Online poker (as it looks today) was born in 1998 and even some of the oldest companies are still around today such as PokerStars, but many of them have resigned themselves to the history books for various reasons.

Where do Online Poker Sharks tend to Play
22 June 2012
The simple answer is that you can’t, you just have to shape up and learn the game because this threat is unavoidable. This is why certain players were so aptly named – Sharks (pros) and Fish (amateurs).
You would think that sharks would play on the high stakes tables winning $100’s per pot, but contrary to popular belief, many of these professional sharks tend to frequent the lower stakes tables in order to take the money from the fish, like taking candy from kids.

What has happened since Black Friday - America's Darkest Day for Online Poker?
13 June 2012
Three of the founders of the world’s leading online poker sites such as Full Tilt poker were indicted by the US Department of Justice (D.O.J) and the F.B.I froze billions of dollars’ worth of player’s money. This happened overnight and left most players and operators in a state of shock. It was no longer legal for players to play in the real cash mode, or for these operators to process transactions with online payment companies or other banking institutions.
The online gambling companies were officially charged with serious offences. These offences included money laundering, illegal gambling and even bank fraud. This new act was called the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) and meant that players basically had no legal US based gambling portals to play at anymore and many other major offshore operators also pulled out of the US market altogether.

At What Point do you start to Question an Online Casinos Random Number Generator?
07 November 2011
The worst thing that a player can experience is a faulty Random Number Generator (RNG) when playing their favourite game online. Many people say that the games online are fixed, or rigged in some way to favour the house, but this is not true. However, this could be said of a rogue operator who is purposely out to scam people. These minority online casinos are very few and far between, but they do operate. Some players do occasionally get caught out and lose money at these casinos. This could be down to the RNG’s that have been used and manipulated to give less than fair outcomes.
Remember that the house always wins so just because you may have had a few straight losses in a row, it doesn’t necessarily mean that the online casinos RNG should be put under the spot light or questioned in any way. This is just down to both bad luck AND realistic outcomes. If you were to have 10 straight wins in a row, would you question the RNG?

How to Beat a Poker bot at Online Poker
26 November 2009
One of the hot topics at the moment in the online poker industry is to create a poker bot that can play online automatically with relatively little or no human interaction but can of course win as much money as possible. This has caused concern for both online poker websites and players as a computer programme could essentially outsmart live thinking online players very easily and take their hard-earned money. In the end, these poker bots could rob the online poker sites of quality players. Studies have shown that about 12% of online poker players were anxious about or just entirely stopped betting at their online casino because of this poker bot craze. Fundamentally this would stop players risking their money and furthermore completely stop gambling online.
The human online poker players are indeed up against it because the poker bot can easily work out the statistics and probabilities of a game, which is insanely risky for your bankroll. Conversely, there are certain methods and strategies on how you can beat a poker bot at online poker and therefore give you back the edge. If you understand how the computer generated codes of the online poker sites and poker bots actually work then you could use this against them. A poker bot is limited to making decisions based exclusively on known patterns of the game. So they bet based on the play of the game in terms of its statistical analysis of poker.
