Bite at the Stratosphere Vegas - The Rock Musical Vampire Love Story

In the past couple of years, the centuries-old vampire has started to make a vicious comeback. With hit TV shows, movies and novels, one might think that the fanged beasts were something brand new to audiences all over. These vampires are everywhere today, and Las Vegas didn't miss their chance to jump aboard the bus of the undead.

Playing at the Stratosphere in Vegas since 2004, Bite is an edgy show that really sinks its teeth into some of the biggest vampire - and Vegas - clichés out there. Not only is this adults-only show delivering up some in-your-face gratuitous nudity, but it's also dredging up the bygone era of 70s and 80s rock and roll.

Some critics of Bite state that some things are better left dead, like the aforementioned rock music. Most others, however, find originality and even genius in a show so far removed from anything else going on in Vegas. Bite is certainly fighting tooth-and-nail to stay afloat now due to imitators, but its loyal following is always there.

What's the big deal about naked ladies with plastic fangs dancing around to old ZZ Top and Led Zeppelin rock classics? It's actually about the entire feel of the show. While other productions in Vegas have retooled in order to show a more "artsy" side of entertainment, Bite had it all along.

This show was taking itself seriously as a true form of artful expression while other shows around town were relying on star power and name recognition to sell tickets. In this respect, Bite will always have a leg up on the competition, even if the other foot's in the grave, so to speak.

There's really not much detail to flesh out about the show, other than the abovementioned description: naked ladies acting like vampires and dancing to some 70s and 80s rock and roll. But the entertainment factor shouldn't be undersold. Production managed to get some talented singers, dancers and aerialists to pull it all off.

Like a typical vampire story, the show starts out with a creepy voice telling the story: the lead vampire's true love was taken over four centuries ago, and now he's on a mission to find his soul mate. This is when the music starts and the girls begin dancing around.

The music is great for anyone who likes rock from that era. They play some Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Ozzy, Heart, Def Leppard, Guns n Roses, and more.

At its core, Bite is a love story. It's certainly a big-production show, with plenty of smoke, mirrors and lighting effects. You will see a little bit of magic, a fantastic live singer, and some aerial feats that rival Cirque, and plenty of hot vampire girls.

Stratosphere isn't one of Vegas' best known venues, and as such, tickets for Bite are relatively inexpensive. A great seat will cost around 50 bucks, and you must be 18 or older to attend.
