Biography Of Eccentric Nightclub Owner Peter Stringfellow

The Stringfellows nightclubs and gentleman’s clubs in London and Paris are considered some of the top nightlife locations in the world. Many famous celebrities frequent the Stringfellows night spots, and there have even been reports of famous individuals, like Canadian actor Keifer Sutherland, being thrown out for unruly behavior.

These nightclubs are hot spots for the wealthy because of one man, Peter Stringfellow. Peter not only provides a place for the rich and famous to gather, but he himself leads an eccentric and extravagant lifestyle. The multi-millionaire businessman and nightclub magnate is constantly the butt of tabloid rumors and media bashing.

Peter Stringfellow has a Paris Hilton-like relationship with media, in that his outlandish behavior and famous spending sprees are always receiving ridicule from British media. The 69-year-old Stringfellow is berated for dressing and acting like a teenager. He is also a supporter of the UK’s Conservative Party – a position that frequently earns disrespect in the mainstream.

It’s a stark contrast, to be sure. While Peter is adored by fellow celebrities and frequenters of his nightclub locations, he is an object of mockery to the public at large. His bleached blonde mullet-style hairdo and his childlike clothing have worked to earn him the title of one of the 100 Worst Britons.

Peter Stringfellow is also an extremely confident man. He claims to be the Wilt Chamberlain of the business world, having slept with over 3,000 women throughout his professional life. As his celebrity and wealth grew, so did his empire of Stringfellows clubs. He now owns table-dancing clubs in London and Paris, and has plans to open clubs in other locations around the globe.

Peter James Stringfellow, the nightclub owner, is not to be confused with Peter Stingfellow the professional footballer for Oldham Athletic, Chesterfield and Gillingham. The two are often confused as the same person, but the footballing Stringfellow is two years older and stays out of the public eye for the most part.

Stringfellow was born on October 17, 1940 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England. He led far from a spectacular life growing up. Born to Elsie and James William Stringfellow, Peter was the son of a steelworker and lived in a lower-middle-class London neighborhood in the 1950s.

Peter didn’t have any type of career in mind when he started working. He only wanted to earn money and live a better life than his father and friends. To this end, Stringfellow started doing anything that would bring in the money. He began his career by selling insurance door to door. Eventually, he moved up to selling Hoover vacuum cleaners and sewing machines.

Ultimately, Stringfellow entered the nightclub circuit with odd jobs before climbing up the managerial ladder. One of his biggest breaks happened when he was offered the opportunity to both manage and buy in to the Mojo Club in Sheffield. Stringfellow showed a keen sense for nightclub management, and it wasn’t long before he opened his first table-dancing location in London.
