Biography of Donald Trump

28 July 2009
Donald Trump is the world's most recognizable billionaire. With a net worth of three-billion, Trump is low on the list of the world's richest men, but he would quickly sue you for saying that. He's famous for his outlandish character, horrific hairpiece, bouts with Rosie, and trying to build a structure on any piece of land he sees.
Through his quirkiness and eccentric behavior, Donald Trump is still one of the world's foremost businessmen. He is single handedly responsible for bringing Atlantic City back to life, and his hotels are among the world's finest. Trump has been married three times and has five children.
Donald John Trump was born June 14, 1946 in New York City, New York. Fred Trump, Donald's father, was a successful property developer who helped him form a business sense and a taste for the lifestyle.
Trump studied at the Wharton Business School and subsequently began his real estate career with his family's business. He immediately proved to have a knack for closing the big deal, and in only a few short years, he had helped the company amass a small fortune. Trump then delved into the Manhattan real estate scene and purchase exclusive properties.
From the Trump Organization to his own venture, Donald started with renovating the Commodore Hotel and then continued on with Trump Tower in New York City. He soon expanded into the airline industry and then the Atlantic City casino business. This venture, however, proved to be detrimental to Trump's reputation, as his casino quickly went bankrupt.
Trump fell increasingly into debt during the 1980s. He always stated that his vision would pay off, but the public was unrelenting, and news of Donald's failures was showing up in every national publication during the early 1990s.
Trump started to reemerge in the late 90s, however, and his financial success was evident by the ventures he was undertaking. Donald successfully branded the Trump name with ventures like the Trump Casino, Trump Marino Hotel and Casino, Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort, Trump International Hotel, and Trump Tower.
In 2004, Trump starred in his own reality program, The Apprentice, where a group of candidates competed against one another to become Donald Trump's apprentice. With the catch phrase “you're fired” becoming one of the nation's favorite things to say, The Apprentice has experienced astounding fame, even hosting a celebrity edition with well-known figures like Gene Simmons of KISS and former Heavyweight Champion Lennox Lewis.
Donald Trump is an extravagant, ultra-confident businessman who takes no prisoners. He was most recently in the news for attempting to build a lavish golf resort in an area of Scotland that boasts some of the earth's oldest natural sand dunes. Trump insisted that “covering them up will preserve them forever” when justifying his attempts to build over a national treasure.
The billionaire businessman is also part owner of the Miss USA, Miss Teen USA and Miss Universe pageants, as well as a respected author. Trump even has an online school, Trump University, which teaches aspects of business to students.
