As with every competitive game, we have our own terminology and unique words in the slots world which we would just like to recap on to ensure you know what we're talking about. If you're a fan of playing slot machines I'm sure you'll understand that it's much easier to play when you are familiar with the terms used throughout the game.
Slot Reels- The wheels in a slot machine which display the images and determine whether you win or lose. The reels are the most important part of a slot machine, without them there would be no game!
Slots RNG (Random Number Generator)- There is a computer chip within every slot which contains a RNG which will generate a number for each reel within the machine. This number is then divided by another number (which can be one of 6 numbers; 16, 32, 64, 128, 256 or 512) and the remainder of the calculation will be the number placed against that reel to decide when it stops spinning.
Loose Slots- Loose slots have more paying symbols than other slots making them more likely to pay out.
Tight Slots- As the opposite of loose slots, tight slots have less paying symbols so they are less likely to pay out.
Pay Table- The list of winning combinations and how much you can win from hitting each of these combinations. The pay table should be stuck to the front of the slot machine so you can be aware of how much you can win throughout your game.
Progressive Slots- Slot Machines that have an ever-growing jackpot that increase each time someone plays that machine. A percentage of each coin entered into the machine will be added the jackpot so if a machine hasn't paid out in a while then the jackpot is likely to be larger than a fixed jackpot machine.
Jackpot- The highest amount that you can win from a slot machine, jackpots can be either fixed or progressive.
Fruit machine- The British variation of a slot machine which usually features extra functions such as hold, nudge or play bonus games.
I-Slots- Interactive slot games that have improved user experience by making the game more interactive with story lines and multiple bonus games.
Double Up- An Australian style feature giving you the chance to double or quadruple your winnings.
Hi/Low- Found on UK fruit machines and offers the chance to increase winnings by guessing whether the next number will be higher or lower.
