After a visit to the best restaurant I've ever visited, I wanted to share with you my review of top restaurant Osteria Francesca in Italy to make sure you don't miss out on possibly the best dining experience you'll ever have.
The restaurant is set in the heart of Modena, Italy, a beautiful 12th century medieval town between Parma and Bologna that boasts an array of gorgeous Romanesque buildings. The town itself is famous for its balsamic vinegar and is home to the founder of Ferrari.
Osteria Francescana is the 6th best restaurant in the world rated by Restaurants Magazine and was awarded the highest new entry in the 2009 awards. It has also been awarded two Michelin stars for its top quality Italian cuisine and contemporary decor.
Since its establishment in 1995, the restaurant has attracted much attention from the press due to the artistic talents of the owner and head chef, Massimo Battura. Travelers visiting the region must visit this gem for a once in a lifetime dining encounter.
With just twenty eight seats, the atmosphere is a pleasantly intimate one allowing maximum attention to be given to guests at all times.
Massimo Battura is famed for his imaginative and creative approach to food, which also shows in his choice of some of the best modern art which he has skilfully placed along the walls of his top class restaurant.
He is a master chef of our time, and his inventive dishes are not to be missed. He has become a highly regarded figure. Each of his dishes is presented as a masterpiece of mouth watering beauty.
The delicious and flavoursome selection promises to satisfy not only your taste buds, but also your very heart and soul. Using the finest locally sourced ingredients, every bite is just as luscious as the last.
Complex creations using the wonderfully creamy parmigiano regianno cheese, prosciutto ham and sweet balsamic vinegar please even the most critical palette and each tantalising course is served by wonderfully friendly and professional staff.
The restaurant offers a selection of vintage and rare wine selections from top sommelier Giuseppe Palmieri, who was awarded the title Sommelier of the Year by food journalist David Paolini in his Sole24 Ore 2008 food guide.
A great deal of assessment goes into all foods that enter the kitchen with their smell, touch and taste considered before putting them to their ultimate potential to deliver absolutely breathtaking results.
The quirky dishes served include a frozen pool of oyster juice containing slices of citarri fish and uncooked prawns; eel from the River Po marinated in a tangy apple syrup, and a tower of toasted bread hiding tiny pieces of anchovies soaked in vinegar and parsley puree.
The desserts are like poetry with fresh citrus flavours and creamy textures that remind only of heaven. Then there is a wide selection of superior coffees to finish your charming and delightful evening at one of the world's best eateries.
