The Long Island Wineries and Outlet Shopping Tour of New York is the perfect day trip to experience the culture at the heart of the famous American city. It’s well suited to couples and friends alike.
This day trip would be an excellent gift for the wine connoisseur, as New York wines are extremely high in quality and famous throughout the globe. The day is coupled with a wonderful guided shopping trip to the best outlets.
The tour starts off at Riverhead, where you will enjoy a lovely country style breakfast with breathtaking views of the beautiful scenery. From there you will continue on to the North Fork, which is the wine making hub of New York.
You will then leave the city and head out to three of the best wineries in the region. The first is Paumonok Vineyards, founded in 1983 by the Massoud family, who run a traditional winery. The name of the vineyard is the Indian name of Long Island.
Macari Vineyards is next up, owned and run by the Macari family. The family have owned the estate for over 50 years, but opened the vineyard only in 1995. The winery was honoured with the bronze award in the Denver International Wine Competition of 2010.
The final vineyard is Martha Clara Vineyards which was established in 1978 and is home to over100 acres of high quality grapes. The vineyard is owned by Robert Entenmann, who named it after his mother. Robert has won several awards over the past decade for the excellent quality of the wines.
You will have the opportunity to taste and smell a variety of wines at each of the vineyards that you visit, and you will be dazzled by the fine and globally popular wines available. You will also have the chance to purchase the limited edition wines.
Not only will you taste the wine, but you’ll also get an insight into how the wines are made and the different approaches that the various wineries take to the creation of their fine wines.
After the vineyards, there will be a break for you to enjoy a leisurely lunch before heading on to the Tanger Outlets for some good old retail therapy. You’ll truly learn the meaning of shop till you drop!
The Tanger Outlet is home to over 165 brand named stores. The outlets are in the Riverhead area of the city, and are set in a really fun and family friendly environment. The mall is packed wall to wall with brilliant bargains, so you can pick up some more gifts or treat yourself!
The entire day trip will give you a real feel for what is offered by New York and what it’s famous for, leaving you with lasting memories and a better knowledge of the area.
